ROCA ROLLA

I asked Doug if we could go on a ride while I was home and he said, "Sure! Let's go on the Freedom Ride Friday night!" Which I didn't realize was a ride 14 miles south of Lincoln to a tavern in Roca, NE. I claimed that I could 'handle it' but man, it was hot, dark, there were bugs and at one point we did a crazy single track ride through the woods. I felt like I was in Lord of the Rings. I suppose I shot myself in the foot when I bought this "No Bar Too Far" pin in Sturgis last week! At the tavern in Roca one of Doug's friends started pooling some money together, which I thought was for the beer and whiskey, so I threw in a $20. Little did I know that it was for illegal fireworks that we later set off on some old bridge in the middle of nowhere! Hilarious! Yep those Freedom Riders are total maniacs. Good times!

Some of Dougie's delicious homebrew

I had to stop and take a photo of this madness

Boy was I happy to see this guy!

CAR HENGE / ALLIANCE, NE

OMG I've been wanting to see Car Henge since I was like 15, so I checked it off the list but no one was there but me so I had to resort to these uh, awesome self-timed photographs.

IRON HORSE RODEO

MOTORCYCLES + AC/DC BLARING + COLD CANS OF BEER = SARRACUDA'S PARADISE
The Bonedaddy Beartooth Iron Horse Rodeo takes place in Red Lodge, MT, about 40 min. from my Aunt's house. There was the wiener eating contest, the potato-in-the-haystack, the keg-roll, the husband/wife slow race, it was All-American insanity!

FISHTAIL, MT

We made it to Fishtail, MT -- turn right at the moose, left at the Cowboy Bar, over the dead raccoon and try and guess the pine tree where the driveway starts. It's a total miracle my car didn't die, the maintenance light flashing, bad gasoline, my general paranoia: all recipes for a dead vehicle. Anyway Fishtail is an oasis of good times and good food. My Uncle Burt had us work as sous chefs and made a delicious halibut curry. We drank red wine until the wee hours! I think I slept through the night for the first time in like 2 weeks! C'mon!

L.I.V.I.N.GSTON

My Uncle Mike and Aunt Sue have this rad old barn that's part of the Montana State Historical Society - it used to be an old dancehall in the 1950s(?). It's visible from the road and is totally awesome, as is my Uncle Mike with his new brew holster.

YOUNG AC/DSHE FANS

These are my cousin Megan's kids, Shaden & Joryn. They really don't like to have their picture taken so I had to bribe them with sugar-free "Monster Goo" candy for this shot. And some temporary tattoos.

ISLAND PARK RESERVOIR

Damn Aunt Carol makes some bad-ass potato salad. The mountains are BLUE!
